Fancying someone at first sight?

Is this normal or happened to others before?

I used a meetup app where you are matched with people for dinner. And I instantly fancied someone on the table. To the point where I was blushing and stuff?

It's as common as rain I would think. I can only think of a very few boyfriends who I didn't fancy right away, as I did my lovely late DH.

I don't blush and stuff.

x2boys · 02/12/2024 09:05

Of course it's normal.

smallsilvercloud · 02/12/2024 09:12

Yes it has, rarely thank goodness, happened once to point of blushing and barely being able to speak , we did have a fling but very short lived when I realised he was a horrible person!

Edingril · 02/12/2024 09:13

Never happened to me i find people like a good steak needs to mature a bit, well takes time anyway

Mydollu · 02/12/2024 09:16

I was just surprised as I've fancied people before, but usually after getting to know them for a bit.

This time it was just from when they sat next to me and started chatting to me.

I did in September 1968.
Fortunately he did too.
Now approaching our 50th Wedding Anniversary. Smile

Fancying someone at first sight is normal for me, though not the stammering bit.
It hasn't always worked out well, but DH2 is one example that did.

ViciousCurrentBun · 02/12/2024 09:31

It’s normal but on a personal level it’s rare for me and has happened just thinking back about 4 times in my life and I’m in my fifties.

ShipToNoveltle · 02/12/2024 09:33

Awww @maras2 so lovely.

Yes, Dh, 1996, across a pub table, friend of a friend. I have never felt so uncool in my life. Felt like everything out of my mouth was just blah, it was a definite I carried a watermelon moment. We have been married 25 years. I still fancy the pants off him.

It has happened with another person but that one didn't work out, lucky for me because only a few months later I met Dh. I have liked people but never been that affected except Dh and this other chap.

Mydollu · 02/12/2024 09:43

We did all exchange numbers and socials after, but I didn't pursue as it probably would have made them feel uncomfortable.

Yes instant with my DP. Absolutely have never ever found someone as attractive as him!

SingingSands · 02/12/2024 13:54

My DH has always said he knew as soon as he saw me that he really fancied me, which is lovely to hear.

GroovyChick87 · 02/12/2024 13:57

I have done but it's rare. I normally have to see what their personality is like, then the attraction either grows or fades. I once had a 2 week flimg with an American guy that was just built on lust.

Kinneddar · 02/12/2024 13:58

Yes, my Dad when he saw my Mum at a wedding they were both at. She was bridesmaid. That was the Saturday, he broke up with his gf the next day & asked Mum out on the Monday. On the Tues he told his friend he'd met the woman he was going to marry

They were together until he died 45 years later

Aw that's so sweet.
