And willing to check stock for a specific item? The shop is showing as having one left of the toy my son wants but I don't live particularly close and not sure whether there is genuinely one in stock and therefore it's worth driving there.

Ring them and ask them to keep it aside for you?

I was trying to ring sll day yesterday but the number just rings out, so I contacted them via Facebook and they said they cannot confirm whether the item is genuinely there, cannot reserve it (even if I pay over the phone) and have turned off click and collect at all stores due to Christmas overwhelm.

It may be item specific but I’ve just used click and collect on Smyth’s so think the store were wrong to tell you click and collect has been turned off in all stores (unless only for specific item). I’m not near the store you mention but if you post the item you’re after people may be able to suggest alternative options to get it?

Maybe it is item specific then because the website definitely doesn't give me the option. I'm slightly reluctant to post the item here if it really is the only one left!
