It's a mad age really I think. Some could have a 22 year old. Some might have a newborn. Some are happy childless. Some could still be trying.

I'm 40 with a 12 and 14 year old.
Married 10 years. Together 18.
Never had a career.

@Blueberrymuffin8

Life is incomparable. No one ever has it 'easier' than another. It's illusiory.

No one is saying that.

What a weird thing to post. Why did you advance search such a mundane thing? People change details on threads for all sorts of reasons.

At 40 I was pregnant with my first of two children.
Had just bought a flat, not yet married.

At 40, I was married, the breadwinner, with senior very stressful job and two young kids, 4 and 2, as well as caring for my Mum. I had a physical breakdown that Christmas and ended up hospitalized. Woke up and realised it was unsustainable.

At 48, still married, kids are 10 and 13, youngest has diagnosis and treatment for ADHD, I resigned from the awful job, set up my own business, now happily self employed. OH found a part time job. I now have time for friends and hobbies and life is much more balanced.

Turning 40 soon. Child free, in a long term relationship. Never had a career, but had until recently a small business. Small mortgage, but currently selling our house and then plan to go travelling for the next 8-10 years.
