Interview nerves - any tips?!

Anyone any tips?
Interview for a class teacher post (part time) is tomorrow; 30 min lesson followed by an interview.
You think after almost 21 years in I'd be confident, but nothing is further from how I feel.
There is so much riding on this job - I need to get it!!

You are almost bound to be asked why you want the role. And it is likely to be one of the first questions. So get a really good answer to that, in news of ten style (there are three reasons: (a)(b)(c). With regards to (a) this is because ...., on (b)..,,, in (c)....... . So, in summary, because of (a),(b) and (c) I would gain immense satisfaction from this role and would be well suited to it). You don't need to have it learned off by heart (better not to, sounding natural and thoughtful is easier to listen to) but have your three things (or 2/4, whatever) clear in your head and thought through.

I think once you've had a strong start the nerves die down and it almost compensates for any waffling later.

@MaterMetella Thank you so much for this - really useful advice and much appreciated.
The lesson and interview went well, but I get the impression the job was already a done deal before I even walked in the door. That's strongly the impression as not picked up references, not clarified re start date etc.
I'm feeling so incredibly deflated 😞

Very sorry to hear that. It's utterly demoralising when that happens. Onwards and upwards.....(easier to say then do, I know).
