My lovely dad died and the funeral is next week. Anyone have any ideas on what to wear? For obvious reasons my heads a shed, and I can't seem to make the most basic of decisions... help!

I'm early 40's, size 10/12. Looking for a good basic but smart dress (or outfit), budget of £50 or less.

TIA

Thank you, I have been looking at that one but wondering if it might be a bit clingy round the belly area.

I am sorry for your loss.
For my Mums funeral I wore a knitted black maxi dress and black ankle boots with a slight heel, I also wore a purple scarf as it was her favourite colour. I also carried quite an expensive bag as she was into bags.
I dressed in a way she would have approved of as she was very stylish

Sorry for you loss OP.
M and S have a nice black t dress style one or a roll neck style jumper dress.
I just bought them for a funeral and both would be suitable but I choose the t dress as more versatile I think.

I’m sorry for your loss. I didn’t read your brief properly so ignore what I put. I hope you find what you need. 💐

This is long sleeved and looks like it would be quite comfy too. You mentioned an earlier one poss being too tight across stomach. Only £20 as well in sale.

The next one is lovely and looks as though it would skim the belly as opposed to emphasise it. Sorry for your loss

When my dad died I bought a few black dresses second hand on eBay. Kept the cost down and they were delivered to my house where I tried them on made my decision than weeks later I got around to donating them to the charity shop.

If you are worried about the belly area wear a loose cardigan with it. Is it waterfall style? And then possibly a smart scarf (sorry I know they have a name but it eludes me!)

Also if you don't were heels regularly then just wear flats. Dolly shoes or flat black boots. On the day you want to be comfortable.

I love that first Next one! I know what it's like to wrestle with the funeral outfit decision. Take care OP x
