Appreciating the small things

Dh is in DS bedroom finishing DIY so we can make space for Christmas in the lounge
Ds 1 is playing fortnight in the conservatory next to me
Ds 2 and his girlfriend are making Christmas sugar cookies
I've got a cup of tea, watching one of my favourite Christmas films and just enjoying having all my family together. This year we were split up for a few months for building works and I'm so greatful we're back together

Yup, same here, just quietly content, not doing much, in a minimalistic kind of way. Son is busy doing his own thing. OH is occupied somewhere doing something that's keeping him busy and quiet. I'm just chilling out in front of the fire and about to watch "Grease" on the TV for the millionth time this afternoon. What's not to like?

Ahh that’s just lovely New,
I agree that it is a lot to appreciate but is so simple.

I appreciate every evening when everyone is home safe after work and school, dinner is on and we are all under one roof. Love that.

@Newname101 it sounds lovely.
I always appreciate the small things - it's so important.
We've had a lovely morning. Youngest granddaughter visited ( she's 1 ) and took 3 steps. Told my ds when he picked her up, he said yesterday she did the same. I'm glad really as strangely, I'd like her to take her first steps with mummy and daddy watching !
My sisters then visited and we laughed about our ailments / doctors / hospital appointments. I said I'm going to get a calendar solely to keep up with all our admissions.
Still, we're grateful to be growing old and we're all blessed with grandchildren so it's a lovely new phase of our lives.
It's definitely The Small Things.

Sunday afternoon, slow cooker is on, washing drying in the dryer, smells lovely, Yellowstone on TV, Christmas lights twinkling, everyone doing their own thing.
So simple, but so comforting.

@Luminear I used to love that, too.
I don't like winter but when my ds was little, I loved that he didn't want to play out.
I'd put a casserole in the oven, we'd watch a film, glass of red wine for me, hot chocolate for him. Perfect.
