Do cash machines ever close. Would it be odd if I went to scotmid just now and withdrew some money or would it look suspicious

Why on earth would you not be able to get money out of a atm at night?
Unless you are going to one that's inside a shop that will be shut it's not a issue.
the only thing I'd be wary of is people relieving you of your £s as you take it out.

My BIL works for Scotmid and he told me that only drug dealers and drug customers go the cash point between 11pm and 1am on a Saturday to Sunday morning OP.

I'm too late to come to this, but I've gone into a Scotmid at night just to withdraw cash. There's no problem.

What about people on their way home needing to draw out cash to pay for a taxi?
