Am I the only one who spends a ridiculous amount of time on Rightmove even though I'm not looking to move

I seem to spend so much time looking at Rightmove even though I'm happy where I am. Today's searches have been: cottages in Frome, Bloomsbury apartment, Primrose Hill houses and houses in Boscastle. A very eclectic mix both location and budget wise.

Does anyone else find themselves doing this?

I look on there a lot - I’m hoping that one day the house I was born in 68 years ago 2 hours away from me will come up for sale for the first time since we moved out in 1967 - I’ll be calling the estate agent for a viewing!
And the house my dad was born in, 1929

I like looking for interesting interiors, rather than bland identikit grey with no indication of the personalities living there.

Bloomsbury apt , ideally close to Lambs Conduit Street. Real Fireplace. High ceilings, not modernized. Roof terrace.
Or hidden anything down a cobbled mews.
Audrey Fforbes-Hamilton type lodge/gate house.
Wooden lodge with verandah overlooking the sea.
A real "
The Holiday " cottage.
Shere is very pretty, even though cottage is a set design.
Anything with a walled garden or old green house.
Anything quirky, historic.
Wish Rightmove had more boxes to
tick
to narrow down searches.
My favourite website. Spent way too much time on it.

The Lambs Conduit brief is my ideal home.

Yes I do
On lottery days, I look to see what I'll buy so I can get away from my nasty neighbours.
I need 5 bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms and an acre of land, with planning permission to build a small cottage on the land.

Yes normally when the football is on I go fantasy house shopping

LittleMonks11 · 28/11/2024 22:53

Me. It's a disease

TokyoSushi · 28/11/2024 22:57

Yep, I look up things that have been listed in my town in the last 24 hours a couple of times a day.

I look at big dream houses and remote houses in places like Shetland fairly often too!

We are not looking to move.

tellmesomethingtrue · 28/11/2024 23:05

Yes I look for cheap 6 bedroom houses and then decide what all the rooms would be used for.

RedToothBrush · 28/11/2024 23:26

I look for a 6 bed with a swimming pool, thats under £250,000 in my location.

(never ever going to happen, but I'm looking for it anyway).

IsItTimeToRetireYet · 28/11/2024 23:41

Yes for Rightmove, and also the Modern House on instagram. I particularly love finding countryside homes. Found a lovely one yesterday that had an orangerie but sadly the bathroom to bedroom ratio was all wrong so I had to scroll on

I also look for a nice apartment in central London for when I’m too tired to get the train after dinner.

I play along with Location x3, wherever they are in each episode I’m checking Rightmove to see what I would buy there!

halloumidippers · 29/11/2024 02:43

Couple of friends and I have a side WhatsApp group especially for this purpose.

Youhaveyourhandsfull · 29/11/2024 02:46

I absolutely do this. Also price high to low, but always find the highest price ones absolutely hideous.

MineMineMineMineMine · 29/11/2024 02:50

I think maybe some of you should try getting into playing SIMs!

toadinthecoal · 29/11/2024 08:49

@MineMineMineMineMine my daughter would love that, she loves it. Maybe I should get her onto rightmove ;)

i have never and never will be able to afford to buy a house but i do like a nosy. its not just luxury places but just everyday places mainly seaside areas. i do also if i see a for sale sign round here go straight on line to see what it is like inside! wouldnt have the nerve to go for a viewing as they probably know me but a good tour round online is brilliant!
there is a guy on Tick Tock who finds the most unusual and terrible listings like houses with slides in the lounge, or beaches or portals. the most terrible are the grotty listings esp in London for rip off bedsits/studio flats which are nothing better than cupboards or sheds with conversions that seem to be breaking every rule in the book but due to the housing crisis will sadly be let
