I want to live in a Ch5 Christmas movie

I'd be skinny with long hair and full make up on at all times. I'd eventually meet a hunky man. I'd have a great career but would enjoy the Christmas break. My mum would be alive and cute and bake cookies. Her house would be gorgeous and full of twinkly lights.

And it would snow every year.

Slightly off topic but... What is a gala?

I'm familiar with the Durham Miners' Gala (pronounced gay-la) but I assume we're not talking here about brass bands and union banners.

Ooh ooh ooh, can I join? I daydream of living in these films all throughout December 😁

I recommend Our Christmas Love Song as a true classic of the genre. It even had a cute kid and mom singing on stage to the town but also talking to Daddy on the Ipad because of course daddy was a Ken doll in military fatigues, surrounded by other Ken dolls, away with the army. They all got thanked for their service in a sickly sweet but eerily empty way. It was all a bit uncanny that scene! I'm sure you can watch it on the 5 Player.

@ICouldHaveCheckedFirst ooh please tell us which American town this was - it’s my goal to visit somewhere like this!
@Chersfrozenface A gala is just a fancy name for a party/ball. There is always a gala in a Hallmark Christmas film where the leading lady just happens to have the perfect cocktail dress in her tiny bag that she has broken down with!

We also forgot to mention that the leading lady is always either a writer, a baker, an interior designer or an extremely important vice president or CEO.

And how could I have forgotten Lacey Chabert! She is the Queen of Hallmark movies.

@JMAngel1 thank you. I think my party frocks (which I never wear these days) will henceforth be my "gala dresses".

Even if you turn on a ch5 Christmas movie you can recognise the heroine as she always has perfect red lipstick on...and swishy hair

@JMAngel1 it was Madison, Indiana. Enjoy!

I don’t get the love for them. But each to their own. Maybe I will watch one to see what’s the fuss about.

NewName24 · 06/12/2024 11:54

Ah, if you just watch one @Nelliemellie , you'll just think you've watched one bad film. The thing about them is the fact it really is the same film, over and over again, all wrapped up in a big hug from a warm blanket and the smell of Christmas spices.
