Which is the most powerful hoover?

immoreexcitedthanthekids · 28/11/2024 11:25

Our hoover has just died (corded shark). A friend recommended getting a robot vac but I'm not convinced it will be powerful enough as we have a dog.

Any suggestions for a really good hoover that picks up dog hair from carpets?

Ive heard Miele is very powerful. Never had one myself. I can attest for Shark, they are pretty good.

I've had the cordless henry pet. And wow. It's 2 months in and I love it.

I've had Dyson, shark, vax all shite. I have 2 dc a hairy collie and 4 cats! I can't recommend it highly enough

We have a Karcher WD6 premium. It's incredible, fantastically powerful although a bit awkward to carry up the stairs. We have dogs and it's just brilliant. Can buy the car accessories etc separately.

I used to have Miele cylinder vacs and they were great with three cats. I 'treated' myself two years ago to a Shark upright and it was the dog's bollocks at the start but it ended up being utterly crap and it fell apart in the end. I suppose I should have pursued the warranty but I doubt there's anything could be done with the lump of shite!

My DD bought a robot hoover (not a Roomba) and it is useless!!

I've just ordered a GTech pet upright with allegedly £100 off in a Black Friday deal and I am just hoping it does a decent job!

I love my Sebo Felix. Very powerful suction for dog hairs

I used to have a Miele cat and dog - pre 2000 and it was the dogs dangly bits when it came to removing animal hair

It died about 3 years ago and because of its age, couldn't be repaired

We had a Henry ( husband is a builder ) so I made do with that, I ended up with a fuzzy house, it was worse then useless for pet hair

I got the Shark Lift- away - corded

As good, if not better then the Miele ( I actually prefer an upright )

I bought a robot for the downstairs where there is no carpet and thats fantastic. Sure I do need to bring the Shark down every couple of weeks but the robot set every day does a great job

I have a funny house, its a bungalow with another half story, so a 3 bedroom bungalow downstairs and. upstairs another living room and 3 bedrooms and bathroom, which is all carpeted, I bring the robot up once a month or so to go under the furniture - heavy oak which is not getting moved, but I use the shark up here daily

Have a pug that only needs to open his eyes and has shed a bucket of hair and a cat who is learning from the pug - without the robot I would have a very fuzzy house again

I prefer an upright too otherwise I'd have gone back to Miele. I had two after each other and they were great. I was younger and fitter when I had them!! I'm so annoyed at the Shark - it's 2 years old and only fit for the bin! I read feedback before I bought it that said the same, but others said theirs was great so I gave it a chance.

My carpet was minging after having an elderly, incontinent cat and while the carpet was always thoroughly cleaned it was never quite right. The Shark originally did an amazing job, and the carpet looked like new!

Sadly it wasn't to last and after a few months, we'd nothing but bother with the damn thing.

I've two massive cats, one part Maine Coon, the other half Maine Coon/half Ragdoll plus a short-haired girl who seems to manage to shed nearly as much as the long-haired ones do! I actually bought a broom with hard plastic bristles from Must Have Ideas, to dislodge the amount of fur and litter they embed in the carpet before I even attempt to hoover! I've been using only that since the fecking Shark died!

What robot do you have @suki1964 ?

This one

got it prime day a wee bit cheaper then Black Friday , but for the price its OK. Maps, lifts the pet hair and finds it way back to base - cant knock it - for the price

You may find cheaper models or those that do more but this does a good enough job for me

With the shark, are you washing the filters regularly? Like today I used it to clean around the stove that been running non stop for a week, so loads of fine dust. Soon as I was done I took it apart and washed the filters ( I did order a new set for these scenarios ) , then when the canister was dry, back to sucking up the soft furnishings

I have a Miele. I don't use it but my carer tells me it tries to lift the laminate.

CrazyAndSagittarius · 29/11/2024 05:20

I have a Miele cylinder. It's excellent. I bought a sebo upright after my last Miele died and it was utterly shit so got rid and bought another Miele cylinder (cat and dog).
