Waitrose click and collect

If I place an order now for click and collect over Christmas and decline substitutions is the stuff picked from stock on the day and therefore dependent on them having it? Or is it like Ocado where it is picked in a warehouse and then goes to the store for me to collect? Or if I order it now will that mean they will send stock to the store especially to meet the order?

It's for a party and I'm wondering whether they'll have all the stuff on the day or not.

I've looked around for the info but can't see it anywhere.

It's picked in store so relies on what is on the shelf that day (and the common sense of the picker although to be fair Waitrose are among the better ones). And horribly unreliable over Christmas. But you can give the substitutions back if they're not suitable.

Thanks. I may be better with Ocado then as they tend to have fewer stock shortages.

I split my christmas shop between the 2! I've got a Waitrose shop booked for Sunday evening and then an Ocado back up for the Tuesday morning. It's worked over the last few years thankfully but Ocado are more reliable in terms of stock as they're not open to the public and stock according to orders in.

An ex Waitrose employee and picker of said groceries, usually if you’re ordering a large quantity of an item, we pick it in advance and hold it for you so we know we have it (wine etc, or ambient goods). Fresh products it would depend on the stock on the day. And food ordered from the entertaining lines, may or may not turn up on the required day and from experience, head office don’t care either way if they ruin your party. Pickers do though so always try to fulfill your order as much as they can. It’s higher up the supply chain that lets them down.
