Weird moist bread

Hi there,

So I just moved into an apartment and have been storing my bread items on top of the fridge freezer (it is medium size so the top of at shoulder height).

Bread that I stored in the bag it came in seemed to get very wet after a day or two? Same with the brioche rolls.

So I put my bread slices into a plastic tub and placed them on the top of the fridge, and a few days later the bottom piece of bread was soaked and there was water/condensation on the bottom of the tub.

Is this normal? Is the fridge that came with the apartment dodgy? I can store the bread elsewhere of course, but I'm wondering if this is a sign I need a new fridge?

Any guidance/insight would be so much appreciated...

Do you mean inside of the fridge or outside it, literally resting on the top where it gets warm and needs airflow?

Resting on top, not in. But it is away from the vent at back of the top bit (if that makes sense).

Doesn't sound like a good place to store your bread. I'd try somewhere else and see what happens.

Hmm, I'm not sure what's causing it, but I would try to find a new home for the bread. I actually keep mine in the fridge sometimes. 🙃
