Calling any current Northamptonions!
Ex Northampton woman here: Background is I left 40 years ago and don't come back very often except to see my parents, and then I tend to only come for a day (the nature of my work means it's been hard to get away from where I live for any longer).
Recently my situation has changed a little and I have a bit more freedom with my time. I'm planning to come to Northampton for a night or two, to see my parents and catch up with some old friends. I'd like to base myself in the middle of town (won't have my car with me) and maybe find a nice little bar where my friends and I can chat over some cocktails or a bottle of wine. Can anyone recommend anywhere that might fit the bill, and/ or a nice hotel to stay in. Is there anything around the Guildhall/ Derogate way? I am completely out of touch with what the town is like now - am I mad to even consider staying in the middle of town?
TLDR: Looking for recommendations for a hotel/ wine bar/ nice place to spend an evening in the middle of town...
