Matching furniture and sofas-classy or trashy?

We currently have a collection of sofas and chairs that although comfortable don't match, though they are in the same colour zone.

Our furniture is a mix of ikea, stuff we had from different houses.

It's all a bit eclectic and sort of works though the bookcase won't survive another move.

I finally have a bit of spare money, and am tempted to go and order some matching furniture and a three piece suite. I quite like the idea of having a cohesive, deliberate look. Everything really needs replacing, the tv table doors are hanging on by a thread and the sofa is comfortable but knackered!

Is it all a bit much? I don't really have the time to go vintage shopping but don't want my house to look like something out of the ikea catalogue IYSWIM?

Personally no I hate it all matching.

I much prefer the eclectic look when furniture has been added over the years. It has much more character than if all bought at the same time.

We have similar coloured upholstery on sofa and chairs. The sofa will probably be more contrasting when we replace it. All furniture is dictated by constraint of a narrow hallway with sharp turn into the sitting room. The joys of cottage life 🤣

I prefer mixed.. it makes a living room have character, but then mine is never going to look show home... I have bookcases on every wall and the coffee table is made of railway sleepers Grin
When we finally changed our sofas after 20 years we kept one old leather armchair and the new ones are in two different colours (Joules so rather bright!)
Makes the room cheerful and lived in!

I think matchy matchy is a bit naff but not necessarily trashy unless its all matching crushed silver velvet or something!

I think artfully mixed fabrics and colours looks both cooler and cosier!
