I realise I'm posting this in chat, but have chosen not to post in AIBU because I'm worried I'll get slated there.
We're in the fortunate position to be able to upsize and move into a new house. Currently we're in a lovely semi within walking distance of our high street which is very convenient. Our road is wonderful and the neighbours are all lovely. I WFH and often times the only outside human contact I'll have in a week is when I go outside and bump into a neighbour and have a quick chat. I can always count on someone to pop over to my house and water the plants or collect a parcel if we're away.
We've outgrown our house and really need to move. But everything in our budget is a little further away from the high street and the close knit community I love. They're still in the same town. Just farther away so we'd have to drive everywhere.
I'm a bit of an anxious person, so I probably ABU and overthinking things
Pros:
- 1000sq ft extra space
- Large garden
- Gated drive with parking
Cons:
- not within walking distance to schools, the high street or rail station
- Will not have my lovely neighbours (or any at all as the home is detached and gated, so quite isolated although still on a residential road
- Won't have the money to fix up the house and make it our own for a few years
- close to a very busy road so I worry about pollution and noise
Am I worrying for nothing?
