£63.8k Secondary Assistant Headteacher

Jan 2022- Feb 2024 I was earning 22.5k in a pastoral role.

Before Jan 2022 I'd spent 17 years as a SAHM. Classroom teacher before that.

Wow.
How have you gone from a SAHM for 17 years, then done 2 years in pastoral before jumping straight up to assistant head?!?
That's unheard of, surely!

21ZIGGY · 26/11/2024 22:04

This is a depressing read - I'm only on £26k (full time) for local council

Councils and charities are so badly paid .

Demurelemur · 26/11/2024 22:05

Hospital Consultant. Full time. Now earn 120k with recent pay rise. Qualified 24 years ago.

105k + around 40k annual bonus
Financial services, 13 years experience
Feel it's crazy money compared to the norm so hate arguing for more but there is still very much a gender pay gap.

Financial services is such a broad term. What do you do/ qualifications?

Alarae · 26/11/2024 22:06

60k - private client tax manager in an accountancy firm (not Big 4 though).

I am a manager in title only as I don't actually manage anyone! Due to how complex our work is I'm actually a junior member of the team, although I've been doing it for about 5 years.

Love my job. It's interesting, I'm always learning, my team is great and our overall firm culture is fab. Have no interest in moving although could probably make more money if I did.

Atstritchsitchmitch · 26/11/2024 22:06

36k Complaint Manager

That's great! I'm happy for you, as a current SAHM and previous teacher! I was worried I might have to start from square 1 again!

I hate these sort of threads,,,,there's always someone who is working so hard for a lower wage, these threads are all about boasting.....🙁

Headteacher - 17 years in role.

£117k

Perpetuallyperfect · 26/11/2024 22:07

Team leader for a housing association, £42k.

5 years ago I was working part time in retail earning about £16k.

I pinch myself sometimes because I can’t believe how much my income has increased in a relatively short space of time and imposter syndrome is real! Between DH and I, we earn over £130k which is a good salary for our area of the UK. Still manage to always feel skint though but do appreciate how lucky we are.

Ineedanewsofa · 26/11/2024 22:08

I pay £4681.78 in tax and national insurance every month, that’s where it all goes!

Notadream · 26/11/2024 22:08

PMO Manager 68K

NotMyCircus99 · 26/11/2024 22:08

I was a nursery worker then nursery admin for several large nurseries during covid, minimum wage for long hours and expected to do overtime for free. Took shit from all sides. Life isn’t worth all that for pittance money. Never had a high paying job, life circumstances got in the way, I’m honestly envious at all of you with these wages

Sorry didn’t mean to offend! Just genuine intrigue as prior to my daughter being born I was very ‘career driven’ but have gone off the boil since then and it’s only recently I’ve naively started to realise I might need to look around post maternity for another role.
