Even Christmas day she was kept in a drawer - oh how can someone be so cruel
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4gz1dv8ly2o

The drawer where the child was kept, open underneath a cream divan bed with a blanket inside showing where the girl lived for the first three years of her life.

Cheshire mother who kept her baby hidden in a drawer for three years jailed

Prosecutors say the girl had "never known daylight or fresh air" when she was found.

"the girl was severely malnourished, to the point she looked like a seven-month-old baby and not a three-year-old child" - tow is that even possible? Poor, poor child, I hope every day of her life is filled with love and devotion from now on.

RogersOrganismicProcess · 26/11/2024 19:12

I hope there is an army of people both professional and big hearted, ready to help her. Poor little lamb.

EmeraldDreams73 · 26/11/2024 19:12

Oh God, I wish I hadn't read this. That poor little girl. What a fucking monster her 'mother' is.

Wonderi · 26/11/2024 19:12

Bloody hell!

That poor child. They will be physically and mentally damaged for the rest of their lives.

What’s sad is how no one heard the child crying and I wonder if that’s because the child learnt very quickly that there was no point in crying because the mum wouldn’t respond.
Which is what often happens in child neglect.

I wonder if she didn’t tell anyone knowing it would be taken away from her like her other kids.

SquatWeightaMinute · 26/11/2024 19:13

I can’t wrap my head around this one at all.

NewGreenDuck · 26/11/2024 19:13

Just utterly appalling. At least she is safe now, and being loved and cared for
. I hope that the person who found her is getting some therapy as it must have been traumatic to find that poor child.

Mymanyellow · 26/11/2024 19:14

Poor little mite. Fed milky weetabix. No veg, fruit never seen day light. I wonder how she didn’t pass away. Cleft palette too left untreated.

Her other kids weren’t taken away- on itv it says “During that time she continued to look after her other children, taking them to and from school and celebrating birthdays and Christmases.”

TwistedSisters · 26/11/2024 19:17

Oh God
I really wish I hadn't read that.
No words.

duc748 · 26/11/2024 19:18

You think you've heard everything, and then something like this comes along. Just unimaginable.

Grandmasswagbag · 26/11/2024 19:18

I simply can not fathom this. Would assume severe learning disability for the mother but as she was able to look after other children in a satisfactory manner this surely can't be the case. One of the worst cases of neglect I've ever read of. Heartbreaking..

fedup33 · 26/11/2024 19:19

feel sick. Along with poor wee Sara. How many more out there?

CagneyNYPD1 · 26/11/2024 19:20

I have seen and read some terrible things in my professional life. I have just read this article and I simply can not process what I have just read. How on earth?

That poor little girl. And her siblings who will find out in the fullness of time.

And the person who found her. The social worker who came to the house. It's truly, truly shocking.

That child must have been sedated in some way to be so quiet.

BoudiccasBangles · 26/11/2024 19:21

I just can’t comprehend it. I don’t want to.

Not sedated just learned there was no reason to call for anyone. Left in a drawer while the mum was at work or even away for 2 days over Christmas.

Even the foster carers said she never cried or asked for food.

That literally makes me feel sick 😭.

The bbc articles says the older children no longer live with her.

Does the above quote not refer to the first 3 years of baby A’s life?

Her other kids lived with her at the time. They were taken after the discovery was made.

The point was the mum wasn't hiding the baby because she was scared of it being taken like her older children - the older children were removed from her care after the baby was discovered.

hellywelly3 · 26/11/2024 19:30

The itv news article says it was her partner that found the child whilst she took the other children to school

Many many many. Unfortunately. So many who don't make the news. I see children with horrific injuries, cigarette burns, broken bones, fractured skulls, brain injuries, horrendous sexual abuse. So many out there.

Nazzywish · 26/11/2024 19:33

I've just read this and came on to see if anyone had posted it. WTH did I read. Some things are horrible/ depraved but this ..this...is just something else....

How did noone in that house know there was a baby in that draw?! Her partner must've heard a baby crying ? I cant get my head around this one.

ImNunTheWiser · 26/11/2024 19:34

This simply cannot be the whole story.
I also do not believe that the 'partner' visited and did not know about the child.
Throughout lockdown again, a substantial period of isolation where so many children suffered appalling consequences away from scrutiny.

The news said the foster parents had put in an application to adopt..
