Teaching assistant ignores me

Hi everyone,
I couldn't help but notice every morning I dropped DC (reception year, only child) at school gate, his teaching assistant lady completely ignored us every time (I always say Morning to her). I am bit hurt and worried if she does that to DC in school as well. Maybe she is just a cool person? I tried not to take it personally but failed. Please any advise lovely people?

If you can be bothered throw her a filthy look tomorrow morning? See what happens

or simply ignore her as she is doing to you!

She is rude. Says nothing about you.

Ask child neutral question "whats Mrs Smith like?" They will tell you if any problems in school.

That seems odd. Does she greet your DC? Maybe tomorrow ask her a direct question such as 'How is your week going?'

She doesn't greet my DC either. Good idea! I will try that tomorrow, thanks!

I work in a small village primary and quite often man the front gate in the mornings. I always greet the children so if a parent and child come in together I usually say "Good morning (child's name)!" But if a parent greets me I'd always reply, and if a parent is leaving I usually say "Bye" or "Have a nice day" or something as they pass me.
If you're greeting her and she's just blanking you then she's a miserable woman!
Although I must say at the moment it's hard to be cheery on the front gate when I'm absolutely freezing standing there and can't wait to get inside once I've ushered in the last latecomer!

What? 😂 Do adults really 'throw filthy looks' at their child's school staff (or anyone!)?

OP, maybe she's grumpy or maybe she's a bit shy/awkward. Lots of people who work with children don't really enjoy the parent-interaction parts of the job.

Thank you! You sound like a lovely person! Recently I also noticed she stopped leaving phonics reading diary notes like before, that and the ignorance in the morning got me worried...

I’m the kind of person who would just repeat my overly cheerful good morning until she acknowledged me. Of all places as both a parent and someone who visits schools professionally, they are usually hot on courtesy and greetings as the poster above clearly is. She sounds a moody cow. Maybe a ‘concerned’ word with the teacher is needed - is Mrs Misery Tits ok as she always ignores me and my child’s good morning?
