A few months back, I upgraded from an iPhone X to an iPhone 15 Pro Max. Kept the same number, just popped the SIM card into the new phone. Unfortunately, I didn’t bother with a WhatsApp backup at the time, mostly because I mostly use Signal these days and figured the old WhatsApp messages weren’t that important.
The messages were still on my old phone, so I thought I could always go back later if there was anything I wanted to keep. Classic me! 🙈
Fast forward to now, and I’ve realised I never saved the number of someone I message with every few months. her number was only stored in our old WhatsApp chats, and I didn’t save it as a proper contact (yes, I know, I’m hopelessly disorganised).
I looked at my old phone to try and find it, but WhatsApp wouldn’t let me access the app unless I updated it first. After updating, all the old messages seem to have disappeared.
Is there any way to recover the missing number or those chats, or am I out of luck?
