Any doctors out there?!

6 days in and I’m still experiencing UTI symptoms despite drinking 2.5L of water a day and taking antibiotics. When I pass urine after drinking watee, it stings less, but it’s still painful. If I don’t drink for 30 minutes, the stinging is much worse. The pain during urination feels more pronounced on the left side of my private area. After urinating, I feel a pulsing or lingering pain mainly on the left side, but feels like internal as nothing is there on the outside. I’m not sure if its vulvodynia. The stinging feels as severe as it did on the first day so antibiotic has not helped. Waiting for urine sample result to come back from hospital. This won’t be until Wednesday :(

Anyone had anything similiar? Just went toilet and its soo painful!

@MessyNeate Yes think that’s definitely relevant, the urine sample will determine what antibiotics would be most effective to treat a urine infection (l’m not a doctor @Olivee1991
if the antibiotics you are already taking doesn’t clear and improve your symptoms.Have you tried cranberry juice, it’s helps with urinary tract infections. Also not using any feminine hygiene products, is important, because they can exacerbate symptoms.

My GP usually changes abx after three/4 days if they aren't working. It may well have worked its way to your kidneys

Hi @Lucy25 @MessyNeate thank you for the replies. I took two pracetomol about an hour ago and the pain has calmed down and I was able to go toilet. Still painful but not as painful as before the paracetomol. Paracetomol helped. Wondering if I should just take that every 5-6 hours till I get results back from sample

Hi @Olivee1991 yes paracetamols will definitely help to continue to take them
In regards to vulvodynia, l don’t know much about it only that it’s a painful condition, it’s definitely worth asking your doctor could it be this
🤞the antibiotics clear all the symptoms

Lucy25 · 26/11/2024 01:29

@Olivee1991 Check with a pharmacist, regarding taking paracetamols alongside antibiotics, as far as l’m aware it is, always best to check though with a pharmacist. They might also be able to advise you further.

Order some dmannose to help - I used to get regular utis but now I rarely get them as I take dmannose when I feel them coming along. Dmannose only works for infections caused by ecoli but that is the vast majority of them. It is a sugar found in things like cranberries that binds itself to the bacteria preventing it from sticking to the bladder wall. You take it with a small amount of water, wait 30mins to give it time to bind to the bacteria and then drink a pint of water to flush away the bacteria. I would take 2000 mg 4+ times a day (on top of taking your antibiotics) to help flush out the bacteria!

Your antibiotic may not be working if the bacteria may have become resistant to the particular antibiotic, it could also be the dose - as people have said it’ll need to be changed.

You can get dmannose from Amazon, Holland and Barretts and some
pharmacies. I find Amazon the cheapest but it depends on how quick you need it.
