And the reason you haven't googled civil service salaries is....?

Could you be more specific?

HMRC offers higher salaries in general but I don’t know about the GSS or GES.

Woukd you be doing the fast stream?

Cocorico22 · 25/11/2024 23:19

You should be able to find salary bands online as PP have said - BEIS/its successors, HMRC, Home Office, DWP paid better than others when I was in CS 2-3 years ago (there are reasons why - BEIS and HMRC can be dull AF, HO and DWP not always pleasant subject matter). Agencies or ALBs may have better pay packages, but not 100% sure. GES get massive uplifts compared to other professions so go for that if you have econ qualifications.

You can see civil service jobs on the civil service job site with pay bands https://www.civilservicejobs.service.gov.uk

In advanced search can select Economist or in general search put Economics in. Varies by job which pays the most.

Civil Service job search - Civil Service Jobs - GOV.UK

Search and apply for jobs in the UK Civil Service

That operate on a Monday Tuesday and Thursday 3-5 and alternate Fridays with a work from home option and a cheese for all day thrice monthly.

This opening post is so puzzling it is almost a thing of beauty. I think it must be the real question to which the answer is 42.
And thanks for including the acronym, OP. Very helpful
