Have you had a new door recently and have any tips?

Any idea how much they are? I'm thinking this is going to be very expensive?

You're right, doors are extremely overpriced expensive

Cheerfulcharlie · 25/11/2024 18:27

It looks beautiful!

TheBeesKnee · 25/11/2024 18:28

We used Solidor and paid about £1200 3 years ago. Without the side panels, but it was a larger than usual size.

princesspadam · 25/11/2024 18:34

So yes doors are silly prices

Is it made of diamonds?

TheBeesKnee · 25/11/2024 18:35

Sorry, my tip is to accept that it's going to cost an arm and a leg and buy the one you want. There's no point quibbling over £100 and getting something you don't like quite as much when you're spending thousands already.

It's kind of like buying a sofa or a kitchen IMO.

princesspadam · 25/11/2024 18:35

@Mondayusername sadly not

Queeezy · 25/11/2024 18:40

I’ve just ordered a one that isn’t too different at just short of 3k

princesspadam · 25/11/2024 18:42

Similar to this, so it pivots rather than opens

I shall forever be shouting 'PIVOT' like Ross from friends 😂

Had several quotes last year for a similar door with side panels but no upper glass above the door and all quotes came in between 3.1k and 3.6k

Ok fair enough, not your bog standard door then 🤣 does it take ages to swing open?

princesspadam · 25/11/2024 19:37

😂😂😂 @TheBeesKnee nooo it just opens like a regular door

SabbatWheel · 25/11/2024 19:40

We had two Endurance doors this summer, one with glass inserts was 1800 and the other with no glass was £1500, neither with side panels or window light above.

Completely agree

I like this one and I really want a bee knocker but DH vetoed it!

Yes got one not that long ago, cost £1700, but I actively made sure I got the cheapest I could get without sacrificing too much of what I wanted! That was for a single door with no side panels. Having glass costs you more, the colour the door is painted can cost more depending which one you choose (white is cheapest), any glass pattern will bump the price a lot.

Did you mean to attach a link/picture? I can't see anything!

Either way, beat him down! Men have no taste 🤣

TheDowagerCountessofPembroke · 25/11/2024 19:53

I’ve got similar but with windows starting halfway up. Ours was about £3k including fitting.

Choose white and get a good quality uPVC paint to get it the colour you want.

Love it! Don't forget the letterbox ;)

millymae · 25/11/2024 20:18

Our composite door is a Rockdoor fitted in 2017 along with an internal sliding patio door which leads into the conservatory and 2 small windows.
It looks pretty much like the one above without the glass side panels but with a letter box in the middle.
The total cost was £2,771.00 but I have no idea now how this was broken down.
When we bought it we were keen to have one that offered a decent level of security and Rockdoor’s specification seemed to compare quite favourably with the others we requested brochures for.
With hindsight I wish I’d given some thought to having a high door knocker and siting the letter box lower down.

amiold · 25/11/2024 20:29

Just ordered a new one similar to yours but only half height side panels/glass and curved at the top. It was £2,800
