does anyone use the esim feature on their iphone?

just found out I have dual sim on my iphone, I'm currently carrying two phones around with me, one for my number and the other for work calls but i hate having two phones and having to charge two/having two different chargers etc

if i activate the esim does it generate a new number or can i use the number i already have in my second phone? i don't really want a new number if possible..

Also, I'm currently on pay as you go with ee, I'm assuming it will be a case of paying for two 'packs' a month? can i use the esim like i would my normal sim? so i can make calls from it, use imessage/texts etc or is there a difference?

just trying to work it all out before I do this so thought i would ask if anyone has done this before calling ee.

Yes, I do. I kept both my numbers.

I have a UK EE eSIM which is my main number and a French Orange actual SIM.

I have an out of contract iPhone which was original purchased through EE.

I cheated and took my phone into an EE store and asked if they could change me to an eSIM. Then I just put the other SIM in the phone and as if by magic it just worked.

I have used it when travelling abroad - I'd just be cautious around using the same phone for work / personal life. It can be hard to keep it separate!

Two phone numbers and two contracts/PAYG.

Otherwise, there is no difference in using them. It remembers which sim you last used for contacts and will use that the next time.

thanks for the replies, just realised its only avialable on contract so I can't use it, I was turned down for a contract recently so looks like i need to keep the second phone after all. thanks anyway..
