Just that really it was working fine last night and is completely dead this morning. I’ve tried the button presses to restart it and it’s been plugged in charging for a while but nothing.

Is it likely to be the battery or is it just caput

This might work:
Press the volume - minus button
Press the volume + plus button
Then press the button at the top on the left hand side (if you are looking at the screen)

Can you test the charger on something else to make sure it's working?

HongKongFinish · 24/11/2024 11:09

Is it actually charging? If not it could be the charger is broken, or plug/plug socket. Mine sometimes plays dead, but it's generally fixed by leaving it switched off for a while.

The charger is working fine, it’s the I pad is not showing or doing anything. The battery still
had over 40% charge last night. Tried switching it on this morning and nothing

If I were you I'd take it to a repair shop. They'd diagnose the issue and then probably best to get a battery replacement from Apple itself

Does this help?

thanks but I’ve tried that and nothing I’m going to have to take it somewhere I think.

I had exactly the same at the end of October. I was using it and all of a sudden it went blank. I knew it was charged. Tried all of the troubleshooting tips. Nothing worked. Took it to a repair shop. 2.5 weeks and £130 later I got it back. No idea what was wrong with it. The man in the shop went for the "say lots of big, technical words she won't understand" tact.

Try plugging your iPad into a laptop/desktop. It sounds weird, I know, but usually works for me when nowt else does.

The lithium ion battery may need to be reset. I would suggest you switch it on.....if it will let you and use it from 40% until it switches itself off at 0% charge, then use it until it switches off ( black screen) then recharge again as much as you can then, again discharge the battery as you use it each time from now on.

You may need to keep repeating these steps over and over again before you start to see improvements in the battery life getting longer.

I understand its a pain in the ass but it may help to reset the battery. This is just in case the battery is at a stage where it can be salvaged.

The issue is caused by recharging before the bat % is back to 0, even though most machines show low bat from 15% and lower. Remember, lithium ion batteries are also sensitive to cold temperatures but be cautious not to let it over heat.

If you can revive it, then great just remembe to charge only when it switches its self off at 0 then charge 100%

This works regardless of make and model of machine you use and I have had a tablet for 5 years with a very long battery life which I use all the time following the steps above, and so far these steps have worked for me.
