I had all my to teeth taken out a few weeks ago . I was given a temporary denture. But I can't Wear it. As its massive. I went to the dentist today and had moulds taken. Have to send of for a new set. So i have an appointment for a month's time. So that will be 8 odd weeks without top teeth . I look like a prick it's very noticeable .

I also look 90 years old. All my face has dropped .

I also want a roast dinner burger in a bun, a sandwich . Slice of pizza , bacon sandwich. Mushrooms

Eeek - that sounds bad 😳 - and a long time. Is there no possibility of getting temporary ones that fit better?

Oh dear 😟. If that was me I’d be wearing a mask outside and getting a lot of nice soups in. Don’t know what else to suggest.

Hugs as well

My sympathies @Kickbutt I've got a partial denture and there's some food I don't even try to eat, burgers, peanuts, corn on the cob, all just not doable. I hope your new teeth work out better for you

FishScales · 23/11/2024 17:27

I lost a tooth, also at the top near the front. over a year ago and had one of those plates. I couldn't use it either although I tried really hard. Like you it just felt so bulky.

In the end I just had to have the gap until I could have an implant. The whole process took a year and cost three thousand pounds.

I'm having implants. But I need to have temporary for a bit . Its still going to take quite a while before it's all done . It's cost a bomb but I have been saving for years .

3k seems alot for 1 tooth though . I'm glad you got it sorted 👍

@Kickbutt hopefully you can with implants, considering what they cost you should be able to chew bloody concrete!

DH lost a front tooth. Got a tooth on a plate from the dentist. Normally, DH has the most beautiful speaking voice. With the false tooth in, he was incomprehensible.

As long as you use something like Fixodent or Polygrip you can eat anything.

MumonabikeE5 · 23/11/2024 18:08

Could you use a denture making clinician independently? Privately? Or is the time frame due to healing?
I feel your pain, I’m not sure I’d be able to style it out, and would want to be a hermit til the new ones were made.

Dentist said once all my teeth are sorted my speech will be much better. I don't think it will though. I think i just have an issue with speech in general. All my . V, and f sound the same. I can't hear it myself i only know because kids take the piss 🤣

It's with bupa. The temporary teeth have been made wrong . So that's caused a delay. So had that not happened I could have been wearing them now.

But to have the implants done and my permanent teeth done is still going to take a long time. That part is due to healing bone regrow etc . The out cone will hopefully be worth it.

I’d be tempted to throw money at it is possible to have a new set of dentures made in one day including the moulds. certainly in London. I’ve experience of this.

Lucky you having money to throw at it. Dental care pricing is a huge concern to so many people. I've thought myself so lucky at still having an NHS dentist and getting my daughter straight in their books but this week they called to say the NHS dentist is leaving. It's a massive worry to pay even for checkups for our family and the odd filling for myself perhaps, never mind anything major.

The OP is doing her dentures and subsequent implants via BUPA, had she not said that I wouldn’t have added this comment, did you read my first comment, before you jumped on with your woe is me think of the poor message?

It's OK. It has cost alot of money but I have been saving /pay as I go since before covid so it's been a long time. My money situation has changed now. So I can't throw money at it . But I get why that was suggested.
