Hi all
charting with a friend who is a registered social worker but feeling really burnt out and she wants to explore a change of career. She feels she needs to make the change as it’s affecting her mental health. But wants to remain in the field of health and social care.
if you are a registered social worker but have changed direction or work in an alternative role - what are the options?
I was thinking of a designated safeguarding lead in a school for her? But not sure if it’s too similar?

what other roles can you suggest?

thanks

I think she really needs to work out why she is feeling burnt out. Is it the high case load? Is it all the safeguarding concerns she has to listen to? Is it the feeling of responsibility? Only once she has a clear understanding of why she is burnt out can she really consider a way forward. For example if hearing all of the safeguarding concerns is causing her anxiety / sleepless nights etc perhaps a school safeguarding role wouldn't be the right move for her? If it's a high caseload perhaps not cahms?
