First Playmobil set for 5 year old

I like the look of the Playmobil sets for my daughter who’s 5 (plus eventually nearly 3 year old). There’s so many different sets. Any ones that have been a hit?

They range massively in price. My kids have had various different ones but by far the one that has been played with the most is the pirate ship.

What are her interests? We started there with my now 8 year old, and added as his interests evolved. At age 4 it was space, then boats with a brief excursion into emergency services, now it’s very much Romans, knights and similar. The pirate and Viking boats are still used, the space and police stuff have been sold on, and we now have the castle, Roman fort, and loads more. The sets are all compatible with each other and are so robust, it’s very viable to buy second hand (Playmobil has a fabulous spare parts service, too)

I'll add that they weren't fussed about the school. Loved the park and the circus. The penguin colony was cheap and a hit until we lost the penguins. Anything with a slide seems to do well - the tiki bar they loved (so did I!). If your DD loves imaginary play, I don't think there's anything better than playmobil.

Big hits for us in the early days were the pool, the camper van and the playground. After that DD discovered her love of horses so we had all of the horse and pony related sets. Their Christmas range is lovely and they do fab advent calendars.

We’ve got far too much playmobil. Second hand is a good option.
DD4 likes the horses. But the aquarium and swimming pool are very popular when filled with water. The farm is also popular

Thanks all. I saw the take along playhouse which she might like. Any feedback on that? Also like that it can all be contained in that as many small pieces! Will look on Vinted and EBay for other suggestions.

Pool sounds good. Didn’t realise you could fill it with water. There seems to be so many different options!

We have lots and it still gets played with by younger cousins and visitors.

I would say universally biggest hits are sets with animals and vehicles - we have a few sets with farm animals and a tractor and a car towing a horse box, and everyone seems to love it the most (including the adults). But all the sets are great.
