Stupid question about hire car.

Getting a hire car as my car is in the garage waiting for a new part. I've never had a courtesy car before. Are you supposed to return it with the same amount of fuel you got it with?

If it's a hire car definitely or they will charge you well over the odds for fuel.

Garage supplied courtesy car, send it back with the same amount of fuel as when you drove it away.

Thanks. They said they'd charge £2 per litre if they have to fill it up. What's the betting it comes almost empty. My own car also needs filling up so it looks like I'll be spending rather a lot on petrol this week. No idea why it's taking so long to get a part for my 3 year old, popular car. It's in the main dealership as well!
