Low confidence child

My son is 10, third child.

He has always struggled with writing, spelling etc so was never very confident in class but over last two years he has had a really tough time. He was diagnosed with epilepsy and started on meds which drained him initially. He missed a good bit of school. He also was diagnosed with dyslexia.

His confidence is so low. He says he is stupid, is really upset going to school.

We met with teacher and she has set up loads of support which has helped so much but he is still finding it hard.

How to I help him grow confidence?
We are doing everything to help him catch up. Would play therapy help him to express himself? Or a child psychologist

He has settled on his medication now but it can make him groggy and affect concentration.
