(Fee-free) Outdoor camera - recommendations pls

So Dp has a Ring doorbell; he can't really use it - he's never been able to connect it properly or permanently to his wifi. (It's probably user-error, he's not very tech savvy) And the doorbell subscription is coming up again...

I don't think it's worth continuing with the Ring. I think he just needs a camera - he only needs it for viewing his driveway. He doesn;t need audio or speech over it, just literally to see the outside of his house. And look over the day's comings and goings.

(Needs to be easy to set up! And fee-free!)

He could even use an indoor one, and point it out the window.

So what do others use and do you recommend?

I bought my DH a couple of i-Geek 2k solar security cameras so that he can keep an eye on the wildlife that visits our garden. They connect to his phone via bluetooth. They have security lights and infrared. They are wireless and charge via solar (although they will need an initial charge and a few top ups if the weather is bad). They seem to work well.

Thanks @DilemmaDelilah - does it record? Or just show the movements in real time?

Hi @Yodabashi . It does record when it detects movement. We usually get notifications about badgers 😁. It sends the recordings to DH's phone as a video file. I expect he can then send them to the cloud somewhere, I don't think they are automatically saved anywhere else.

This is a reasonably priced camera that works for us. Our specifications were wireless, solar charging and infrared. I'm sure there are loads of options out there!
