Yellow Metanium no more!!! Alternatives?

The best nappy rash cream known to man has been continued, apparently because they can’t find a key ingredient.

What are your recommendations for any decent alternatives? In my opinion, Sudacrem and Bepathen do not work as well as Metanium and DS does get nappy rash from time to time.

If you can get hold of orabase it's wonderful stuff, we used to use it on NICU

Also gutted over here! We found Sudosalve also worked wonders for us.

Currently on Ebay for £25.

Absolute best nappy rash cream (believe me ours has rashes so bad they bled due to allergies) is the Weleda Calendula cream. And it’s very natural. Goes on thick, doesn’t stain, lasts hours. Perfect stuff, I tried absolutely every cream going as we didn’t get along with metonium and it is by far the best

I was going to say Bepanthem! Dd2 did not suit Metainium, it made her skin raw, took me a while to work it out as I used it loads for dd1! As well as Bepanthem I liked the Aveeno nappy rash one, it provided a real good barrier.

Oh Metanium was rubbish compared to the miracle of Bepanthen. I still use if for all sore dried skin or chaffing.

Nothing worked for my son until we tried Metanium and we tried everything suggested here other than Orabase. I've just done a quick stock count here and I have 4 half used tubes of Metanium so hopefully that will do us until my 2 are past the nappy rash stage.

https://chng.it/dbv9D4Hjng - Metanium is used for babies with continence issues including post stoma reversal surgery. It’s a vital element of care so if you’d like to see it back on the market please spare a moment and sign this petition.

Absolute travesty!! I've signed the petition. I've got one tube, don't need to use it very often thankfully, but it is a magic cream when I do.

angryanderson88 · 21/11/2024 20:37

Signed. Appalled this won't be available for future parents. Nothing else comes close. Still have a 1/4 tube in the medicine cabinet.

CaptainCabinetsTrappedInCabinets · 21/11/2024 20:40

What good is signing a petition if they can't source a key ingredient?

Hoppinggreen · 21/11/2024 20:42

Some bloke in front of me in the chemist yesterday was asking for it.
I was thinking about his poor baby with nappy rash but then I heard him say that he wanted it to sell on ebay

Another vote for Weleda. It’s really good!
