Reminiscing on all the types of clothing styles of the 90s / 2000s

I was walking the dog earlier when it occurred to me I don’t often see teens wearing different styles of clothing anymore. Or maybe I do but I’m so out of touch I don’t recognise it anymore 😂.

I was born in 84. In my senior school we had:

Grunge (nirvana t shirts and baggy black jeans)
Skater (similar to above but more mainstream and less black)
Sporty (adidas tracky bottoms, kappa 😂)
Chavvy (black bomber jackets with orange insides, hoop earrings, lots of stuff made out of shiny turquoise / baby pink material)
Posh (black stretch flared bottoms and pink fluffy top / turquoise stretchy shirt from Jane Norman)
Surfer (quicksilver bucket hats, oversize shirts)
Hippie / new age (the kids who went to Camden market at the weekends)

We looked like a mess…but it was fun. Where have all these clothes gone?! I see lots of teens in leisure wear, leggings and hoodies. Maybe it’s just where I live

You've unlocked some memories there!
I still miss Jane Norman 😢.

they’ll probably open back up as I swear those kind of cheap feeling black trousers (tight round the butt and flared from knee down) are in the shops again. I found a picture of me and friends age about 15 all wearing identical Jane Norman outfits. We looked like we were about to go to an office staff party (except we also all had braces, and butterfly clips in our hair 😂)
