I unfortunately witnessed a particularly nasty and sustained attack on a woman. I made a statement and, because he didn't plead guilty, had to attend court today.

He has at the very last minute pled guilty to an lesser charge. (He didn't mean to Injure her, he was trying to injure himself and accidentally got her in the process guv).

Sticks in my gullet because it's a load of bullshit. He could have fucking killed her, at the time I wasn't sure he wasn't going to. I am amazed what the human body an survive without "significant" injury

Fucking shit head and fucking system that allows it. Only saving grace is neither she nor I had to testify in the end.

People have always lied in court.

All you can do is hope the judge doesn't fall for it.

That's awful op - but at least he did plead guilty to something - although unfair it's a lesser charge.

I once witnessed a horrible attack and the victime gave a statement but didn't turn up at court. The ridiculous CPS dropped the charges as 'they didn't think the Magistrates would accept my evidence'. And couldn't explain why not since I was a respectable civil servant who'd called the police, helped the victim and gave a statement and turned up at court!

Really frustrating that violence against women is so minimised.
