Smear test no appointments

Due a smear test, I keep calling to get an appointment from my gp to be told no appointments available and to call back in a week. I have for the last 10 weeks and not any closer to get an appointment I have asked when they open appointments so I can call then, if I can be put on a waiting list or automatically added to the schedule to be told no. When I Google unless I'm missing something and happy to be told I am it’s the GP. I have had changes in cells in previous checks so I get worried! Any help/advice?

I have looked on Google and found that my local sexual health clinic does smear tests. Have you one close by you can call and ask?

Make a complaint through the NHS and be very clear that you want the outcome to be that they make an appointment and contact you to tell you when it is. I had a similar situation last year when I was referred to the hospital for x rays by my dentist pending a complicated tooth extraction but I tried for over a week at different times and nobody ever answered the x ray department phone. I emailed a complaint to my NHS local trust and a few days later I had a letter with an appointment through my door.
