EBay authenticity guarantee for trainers?

DD has asked for a particular pair of trainers for Christmas but, in true DD style, they happen to be really popular and are sold out almost everywhere. Ebay has several sellers selling brand new ones and I’m tempted to order from there but just wondered if I can trust the authenticity process to ensure I get the real deal, not fakes. Has anyone got any experience of buying labelled goods in this way?

No idea but I'd like to know the answer! (I have a brand new pair to sell and was checking existing adverts and wondered how they do this).

@Portolaurel - I know they send them off to a special place where there are supposedly trained people to determine whether they are authentic or not but I don’t know how robust the system is.

I sold a pair of trainers last year and they went off to be authenticated and then sent on to the buyer, it only delayed them a couple of days. They sold for over £100 and I think this might be the point at which authentication is triggered.
