Who should sleep where?

3 story house. One bedroom on bottom floor, 3 bedrooms second floor and another bedroom on third floor. Mum, dad, 7 year old twin boy and girl, 4 year old boy, and 2 year old twin girls. Who should sleep where?

I would share a 4 yr and 7yr. age gap won’t work and it won’t be long before it really makes a difference
I wouldn’t share the 7yr together, a couple of years and they should no longer be sharing.
maybe ok in the short term…

the other option might be that if the loft room is big - to convert into two rooms for the 7 year olds? Cheaper than an extension

We did this, stuck a stud wall down the middle of the loft room to create 2 separate rooms. Quick to do and much cheaper than an extension! The rooms aren't huge but they're big enough

How often do the in laws stay? Making a big sacrifice to save a room for visitors when you have so many children….

Every 3 months or so, but they stay for at least 2 weeks at a time, they are getting older and to be honest once they are at that age they will likely end up living with us. Dh is an only child so they are very close.

I have no advice but massive respect for all the twin parenting. 🤘

Thank you, it is hard work and definitely wasn’t expected but I can’t imagine life a different way now!

At this stage, I would not have one child on the ground floor. That leaves you 4 bedrooms to play with. The twin girls should share but this seems a good age to separate the 7 year old boy/girl twins so personally I would do:

Ground floor - guest room/play room

Middle floor - Bedroom 1 for parents, bedroom 2 for twin 2 year olds and bedroom 3 for the 7 and 4 year old boys

Top floor - 7 year old girl

There is potential to change things around in future but for now this is what I would do.

Bump! We’re still deciding. Leaning towards me and dh, boys sharing, twin girls sharing on second floor, oldest daughter on top floor and leaving bottom floor room open for grandparents.
