Kia Sportage, has the 4 x 4 got you through the snow today?

Due to pick our 2024 model soon, just wondering if the 4 x4 is any good on this type of car. Not owned or driven a 4 x4 before.

Have you specced it as an all wheel drive or do you m just mean the body shape?

I have one and it's 2wd but it's not been bad today, just drove slow and steady

The Kia Sportage I have ordered is AWD

Most cars will get you through the snow if you put winter tyres on them. And if you are going to rely on the fact that a car is an AWD to get you through snow, then at least learn why it is helpful and how to drive it.

Yes, I agree with this. Study the book, You'll need to know how to activate the diff lock and traction control and stuff. My RAV4 is old but brilliant in the snow.

It’s also not snowing everywhere, why do people on mn assume that because it’s snowing where they are it’s snowing everywhere!

I don't think the OP is assuming that - just asking if your car has performed in the snow today? If you have no snow, then just move on, surely?

It was always amusing, when we lived in a ski resort, to watch the British 4x4s spinning their wheels and getting stuck in the snow when the locals were pottering around in their Fiat Pandas like this was just a normal day (and it was, because it snowed there for 5 months of the year!) I’m going to Sweden later on this year, and I’ve rented a bog standard vehicle, but it will be the winter tyres that are fitted as standard that will get it through the snow, not the drive train.

Ah, I wish I could tell you.
I have a Kia Sportage and absolutely love it, but it’s been many years since we’ve had decent snow here in south Wales, alas.

& blaming the vehicle!! I used to live in resort, I drove lots of cars/4x4, vans up to their chalets for visitors who had absolutely no clue. Sadly it was often absolute carnage on the roads in resort.

watching the gobshites slide down was amusing though.

Automatics suck in the snow and ice.

Sonolanona · 19/11/2024 12:56

Fiat Panda 4x4s are awesome little cars mind... God I miss mine!

Oh yes. Sorry I should have added that my 4x4 always has winter tyres swapped onto it at this time of year.
