What were these chocolates?

Just read a thread where the OP was trying to remember what some chocolates were and it's got me scratching my head about some that I vaguely remember. And when I say vaguely, I mean it...

All I can recall is that they were small oblongs of individually wrapped chocolate in different flavours. No nuts or anything else, just different flavours of chocolates. I seem to remember there was one particular flavour that we'd all fight over, but no idea what it was!

I think they only made an appearence on high days and holidays, probably Christmas, and I'm sure they were classed as posh and were always a real treat to have.

Am I dreaming?! I was a child of the 70s, so I'm guessing it would have been mid 70s if that helps.

Ah Terry's Neapolitans. Just your description of them takes me right back to my grandparents house in the 80s. Those, After 8s and humbugs were a staple of visits there. Thanks for the memory! I don't remember the box above though, I think it was blue at the time I'm thinking of.

BunfightBetty · 18/11/2024 20:00

They were so lovely. Why did the idiots stop making them?

shellyleppard · 18/11/2024 20:01

Neapolitan??? They always felt really posh for me!!! Yes I grew up in the 70's.....😁😁

It was the law to fight over the orange ones

Healthscareandworried · 18/11/2024 20:05

Can anyone remember a sweet in the 80s that was a hard strawberry centre, almost like a honeycomb texture covered in chocolate. It’s bothered me for years and google hasn’t come up with anything.

ETA, it was a bar not small sweet.

@Healthscareandworried

Was it a Ruffle Bar? Or Raspberry Ruffle?

Butteredtoast55 · 18/11/2024 20:58

I think it was the Terry's Mocha Neopolitan that started my lifelong obsession with coffee chocolates 😊

I don’t think so. But thank you.

We had one of these that would be filled with 'neolopitans' and we'd have to pay to get one. Happy days Xmas Smile

@TianasBayou there were 2 of those in our house - mine from the late 60s was in old money but my sisters from the 70s had 2p on it! It was such fun to open the box of mini Cadbury bars and load the machine - even better if it got magically refilled overnight! I think I was 6 or 7 before the Terry's Neapolitans were introduced to the machine. DH and I were unhappy when neapolitans were discontinued 😭

Maarva · 18/11/2024 21:34

this has got me thinking about a Terry’s Pyramint. They were lovely.

unsync · 18/11/2024 21:37

Little bricks of chocolatey goodness. My mother's favourites. We were allowed one from the box.

Villagetoraiseachild · 18/11/2024 21:43

I had one of those little machines! My own little chocolate shop.
When did Terrys stop and why, oh why?

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 18/11/2024 23:21

I loved Neapolitans! Little bars of loveliness. A box of Neopolitans and a box of Thornton's special toffee and I'm back in the 70s!

Was this an Anytime Bar? It took me ages to find this picture a few years back on google but I remember the packaging was clear and stripey and then did mint and strawberry flavours.

Oh my word, I posted this, went to the hospital for a routine scan early the following morning and they kept me in - I’m still here 😕. So I’m ever so sorry I didn’t jump on to thank you all, but yes, Neopolitans!!

Thanks everyone, I’m going to read all the replies now and see if anyone knows if they might still exist anywhere.

I think it was these. They do strawberry ones and I do remember there were different flavours.
