What time does your 7-8 year old go to bed ?

He (7.5) gets into bed around 8pm. If he's got some energy he reads/does something like IQ puzzle. I leave him to decide when he wants to go to sleep and he typically throws said activity out of bed and crashes anytime from about 8 to 8:45.

An 8yo should be getting about 10 hours sleep. My dd has to wake up at 7am so 10 hours before 7 is 9am, but she also takes at least half an hour to fall asleep so I like her in bed by 8.30 on a school night.

Sorry, I meant 9pm not 9am!

DD1 is almost 8 and I aim for her to have teeth brushed, pyjamas on and be in bed by 8pm and actually asleep by 9pm.

So normally going up around 7.30pm, getting ready for bed, goodnight kiss and then she reads her book until she crashes out anywhere between 8pm and 9pm.

When my ds was 8 it was shower at 7.45, reading with us until 8.30, lights out shortly afterwards and more often than not on a weekend it'll be 9pm lights out.

He's just turned 9 and still trying to get him to sleep before 9 on a school night as he's up at 7 for school.

7pm. The best thing you can do for primary (any age) dc is lots of sleep opportunity, which means quiet and in bed with lights off. They can then choose to sleep or just rest quietly

8:30-9pm
