Can a 10.5 tog duvet do for all year round? Will I get too hot in it? I'm not even sure what I have now there's no label on it. If I get a 10.5 fake down one will that feel heavier than a synthetic one that is hypoallergenic?

I think it depends on your house warmth and your personal preference. I have 10.5 tog in my spare room, used by three different guests in the past month. Two were warm, one was cold (but is always cold... At home has 13 tog + spouse + cat).

I have 4.5 tog in winter and the window open.

My DD's allergy consultant told me that hypoallergenic bedding is just sprayed with chemicals. It's certain chemicals that my dd is allergic to so she can't have hypoallergenic ones despite being allergic to so many things.

I've got a 10.5 duvet and I have a throw on as well in the winter.

I’d be boiling in a 10.5 tog in summer - we have a 4.5 tog for then.

Totally depends on your house and you. We flit between a 2.5 in the warmer months and a 4.5 when it's colder. No heating on at night, just a warm house. If the temperature drops below freezing at night we add a blanket.
We have down as I find synthetic makes me wake up drenched in sweat.
DS has a 10.5 and refuses to go lower in the summer. Don't know how he sleeps under it!

I am in Scotland so that affects my answers, but even here 4.5 is fine for summer months - generally June - August say. - 9 tog is great for spring / Autumn, but I put them together to make my cosy winter 13.5, which I put on in early December .
But we sleep with the windows open , pretty much every night.

Our 10.5 tog would be fine most of the spring/autumn, but usually switch to 4.5 for high summer, sometimes just take it out completely and use duvet cover only if it's a heatwave. 13.5 tog here for very cold months.

I would forget togs and recommend a woll duvet. We use the same one all year. It's warm in winter and cool in the summer. We have the fogarty one from dunelm.
