Anyone know more than me about Bumble?

So I've a QQ... back in the dating game again and rejoined Bumble. All the matches appear along the top of the message thread. But this one guy, has been added to the message thread list... no message or anything, chat is clear, but I'm wondering how he got in the message threads. Can't find the answer online.

Anyone au fait with Bumble and know how this works? I can attach screenshots if it makes what I'm asking clearer?

(Kind of hoping he did something extra to get noticed and get in the message thread, but that may be wishful thinking)

Do you mean he matched with you even though you didn't swipe him?

Ps: remember on bumble, women always need to message first.

I think they all appear in the message thread as long as you've matched.

Might be confusing it with tinder here but I think they also vanish from the row at the top once you start messaging them.

If you didn't swipe on this guy, it might be someone you swiped on last time (you say 'rejoined')

Yes, aware I need to message first... but this guy has shown up differently... see screenshots. All the regular matches are on the top... but this guy somehow is down in the messages section. But we've never exchanged messages.

However, I saw this guy on here before, know him to see, and would love to think he's done something to get into my messages! 😅 Definitely wishful thinking, but just want to understand the difference

They actually don't all appear in the message thread. All the matches are along the top, and then when you message, they move down the message list. Just thought it was strange.. and half hoping he's gone out of his way to get there. But then, he could just send me a 'compliment' I guess?

However, you're right. I've been there before, don't think I swiped on him, but maybe I did and that's why he's there?

The man in question is Gearoid btw. Hope those screenshots aren't violating anyone's privacy! I don't think so though, but stand to be corrected and will absolutely take them down.

Hmm...put it this way - if he wasn't cute and yet suddenly appeared in your list without you swiping, would you be happy? No, it would be creepy. Right? So I wouldn't be too keen to get involved, personally.

Could it be that it was someone else, and the picture has now changed? Eg, could be a catfish or a bot.

Could be someone from last time you were on but, I'd expect them to be further down your list.

I can't remember but there might be some sort of instant match feature.

...have a feeling its just 'see who swiped right on you so you can match with them' though. Not a 'match with anyone' feature.

His photo looks suspect to me. Too many people on Bumble have similar images to this. Could be that he’s a bot/catfish who was using a different name/photo last time you were on Bumble and has since changed it?

@Pinkbonbon it wouldn't be creepy as such, because I kind of know the guy and I don't think you can just show up in someone's message feed? But I'm really no Bumble expert so I'm not sure.

Definitely not someone else... I've sent him a message now so I'll be sure to be sure it's him, but I don't think it could be anyone else. Well, I'm hoping it's him anyway 😅

Only rejoined again yesterday and all my previous matches had disappeared so he's done something his end to match with me I reckon. I just don't understand why he is in my message feed, without us having messaged, if you see what I mean?

I just googled and if you have opening moves set which he replied to maybe that's it?
