My DC are 14 and 12. DD and I are going to our local English Heritage place in a couple of weeks for festive afternoon tea, while DH and DS go to London to see A Christmas Carol (GCSE revision). I haven't planned past that yet. When they were little I had Father Christmas booked by September!

Ooh love this. I have a nearly 3 year old and a 6 month old. We’ve got a Christmas lights walk booked near us and Father Christmas with my parents. That’s all the paid activities- then some snowflake crafts, hoping to make some Christmas biscuits, do a walk around local area to look at lights and decorations.

We go to lots of Christmas markets every year. DH also plays violin at some gorgeous events, so we'll be attending them - really atmospheric. We'll visit cathedrals, go on winter walks to collect foliage and make decorations, choose a real tree together which is a day out in itself. We're going to go to some National Trust places with events on, the Christmas tree light turn on for the village. Neither kids like grottos so we won't do that, but we might drive out to one of the cities as there's a moving grotto float thing.

Lots of cooking and baking and crafts, too! And of course, Winter Solstice! We always travel out to some absolutely wonderful events for that.

We're going to see Elf the Musical and a pantomime, going to a Christmas fair and also helping out at a Christmas party for kids with disabilities at school. One of my favourite things to do is to buy books for children in care via the Booktrust charity every year, I am trying to make sure that Christmas is not just all about the presents and that we think of other people too and this is a great way to get the message across.

we have a winter festival in our city so we’ll go to that too.
