She does so much to promote women’s health issues. So sad to hear she has a brain tumour. It shows that you really never know what is around the corner. It sounds like it’s operable and as positive as it can be in the circumstances but I’m really sad for her.

no real point to the post I know but..

I think it's benign is it not?

user876477 · 15/11/2024 12:12

Yes she’s said it will be removed and then hopefully everything will be ok but it’s clearly a worrying situation whenever brain surgery is required

Benign tumours can still cause major health issues though.

Phase2 · 15/11/2024 12:13

Kind of lucky she found it by chance before she had symptoms I guess. But I wish her well obviously, that la the only silver lining.

AllTangledUpInTinselAndTiaras · 15/11/2024 12:13

Especially in the brain.

Wishing her well.

Still scary to have brain surgery though.

hby9628 · 15/11/2024 12:46

I was just thinking about this. What a worry. She seemed emotional on the video I saw. I hope she recovers well.

Jabtastic · 15/11/2024 12:48

Oh I didn't hear this before now! I hope she gets good treatment and makes a swift recovery. I always enjoyed her programmes.

Lovemycat2023 · 15/11/2024 12:50

Yes, I was really sad to hear that. I think she’s a good presenter, and she seems very much as she comes across so authentic. I hope the surgery and recovery goes well.

It's not cancerous!! Everyone calm down.
Can't believe this is a topic.....Jesus

Yes, which means non-cancerous and unlikely to spread to other parts of the body. However, it can still grow and cause neurological damage by sheer size/location and increased intra-cranial pressure.

AllTangledUpInTinselAndTiaras · 15/11/2024 13:05

Exactly. Tumours in the brain can cause a host of issues.

MrsKwazi · 15/11/2024 13:10

A relative had a non cancerous brain tumour and she has paralysis on one side of her face, partial hearing loss, difficulty blinking (causes so many eye issues!) etc. Non cancerous does not mean no problems. Poor Davina x

Benign tumours can still cause all kinds of damage, including pressing on your optic nerve and making you blind.

Silly, ignorant comment.

You go and have your skull cut open and 9 days in hospital, then come back and tell us to calm down.

Christ have a bit of compassion!

It’s not uncommon for a benign brain tumours to be terminal.

MargaritaPracticallyCan · 15/11/2024 13:15

Benign doesn't necessarily mean it won't cause issues or grow again. I'm very glad she's getting treatment and thankful for her raising awareness along the way.
I lost my beloved mum in June, six weeks after she was diagnosed with a brain tumour (totally different to Davina's, a glioblastoma, 7cm when detected, barely any symptoms.) Anything that raises awareness of conditions like this can only be a good thing. Sincerely wishing Davina well in her recovery.

I'm sad to hear this. From what I've seen, I like her a lot. I hope she recovers well.

What a horrible comment. It's still a major operation with risks attached and potential damage to other parts of the brain. I'm sure she will be fine, that doesn't mean we can't show compassion for what must be a scary time for her and her family.

Some people just have no grace......Jesus.

Brain tumours don’t have to be cancerous to be very serious and life changing / potentially fatal. The surgery itself is dangerous and potentially comes with significant complications.

Reading the thread I think it's you who needs to calm down?

Yours seems to be the only 'non calm' post.

Cancerous or not, the poor woman still needs brain surgery which is all people are discussing.

gmgnts · 15/11/2024 13:19

Sorry to say a friend's 40 year old son has just died from a benign brain tumour. The medics couldn't stop it growing and eventually it killed him. He leaves 3 young children. Hope Davina is OK.

What a crass comment, my DM died having brain surgery, brain surgery advertised with a 98% success rate ……
And since brain issues run in our family, or seem to, another family member had a benign tumour removed but they damaged nerves getting it out, so at 60 will never walk unaided.
