Online passport renewal error!!

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping someone here has experienced something similar and can offer some advice. I recently completed a passport renewal for my child, I got an email to say parent 1 detail (my place of birth) did not math their records. I can only think I put down my daughters birth place as my birth place… I just cant remember.

The Passport Office requested my birth certificate. I sent it first class yesterday and they have recieved it but not scanned into the system yet. I’m wondering if this will be enough for them to correct the information. Has anyone else been in this situation? Did they manage to sort it out without too much hassle?

Any insights would be really appreciated. Thanks!

@ThatCalmPombear oh wow I didn’t know. They asked for birth certificate which I sent. I called today and they said its with the I called today and they said it’s with the examiner. couldnt say if they scanned the document. This was my fourth call to them since last week but no one mentioned I could change over the phone. Lucky you :(

Why don't you ring back and advise them of an imminent visit to the seriously ill parent/grandparent, they might be able to put an urgent tag onto your file.

It's certainly worth a try.

I got the wrong year for my child's birthday. I mean who doesnt🙄. It took some sorting out and having to speak to someone from a different passport office to get it resolved. Try and get a phone call and do exactly what they say. It was really stupid error, but glad to see I'm not alone here !

@needapokerface thank you. I am thinking to give till Friday and call back. Just so stressed waiting around. I dont have another birth certificate copy.. worried about them losing it.

I forgot to add his middle name, they called me to ask if I wanted it added.

My dd traveled on her first passport for 5 years with the wrong date of birth on it and none of us spotted it. When we renewed I sent her birth certificate in and a covering letter and they amended it but now it says 4/5/month/year. I don’t know if it was my error of theirs 😆😬

@BoobyDazzler wow. I didnt even realise I put wrong birth place till they emailed me. They said no need for cover letter so I didn’t write one.. maybe I should have :/
