Child Maintenance

Hi, looking for advice about using the government child maintenance. I’ve been trying to get maintenance paid for over a year but I’m getting nowhere! I’ve had a few payments but nothing consistent and payments also not inline with what Ex earns. Ex is self employed so they have never been able to establish his actual earnings. I ring the child maintenance service, they tell me they are taking action but literally nothing happens. Has anyone found a way of actually getting them to do anything? Each time I call I get a different case worker, they all admit it’s frustrating but that doesn’t help.
Has anyone found any helpful support groups or solicitors?

Self employed are a problem as there is no employer that can deduct it from their wage.

have you tried your MP? They can help with child maintenance cases

No, I will contact them but Ex lives in a different part of the country will this matter?
it’s insane that just because he’s self employed he doesn’t have to pay.

CMS keep telling me that they will go through some steps and eventually take him to court… but I hear this each time and nothing changes. It’s very obvious my EX is working as he’s all over social media. So frustrating
