Dd headache, getting sick, sleepy

Dd 10 has been sent home from school this morning after being sick. She has a headache, says she feels awful and us getting sick. I gave her some calpol but she has thrown it back up. She's feels cold. No temperature and is now asleep. She never ever falls.asleep no matter how ill she is. I'm worried but not sure if I'm just panicking. Should I wake her, let her sleep?

What is her temp? Is it low? With feeling cold I’d be concerned about sepsis.

CreationNat1on · 14/11/2024 12:51

If you are panicked, bring her to the GP, just as a precaution.

Lazydaisy991 · 14/11/2024 12:56

Her temp is 35.8

Ring 111 now. Recheck her temp and tell them. If it is really that low she needs to be seen and 111 should be able to organise.

Thank you. She's taken some nurofen and a few sips of water. Temp is now 36.2 so I'll call them and keep checking her

Definitely keep checking her and call for advice.

My eldest started with migraines around that age, as did I. She used to get a headache, throw up a few times, sleep it off and wake up right as rain. So something else to consider if she has no red flags. But definitely keep an eye on her temperature.

My mum said she and my dad have just had a bug getting sick, very dizzy and a headache and lots of people she knows have had similar so could be this too. I'll keep checking on her.

Not an expert but that temp seems low???

SkylarH · 14/11/2024 14:25

We've all had similar in my house this week.

DD is 1 year old and just had a 2nd nap (she's not done this in a while). She's got a fever.

DS has a cough, headache and ear ache :(

That first temp sounds low. Are you sure you recorded it right? I'd maybe check a few times in a row, and take an average. If dropping low, I'd call 111 myself.

It's now 36.7 so not as worried. She has just never had a stomach bug before which I suppose it unusual. Just giving her water but she's bringing up yellow bile I suppose as there's nothing in her stomach.

Has she had her eyes tested recently? I got horrible headache's eventually figured out I needed glasses .

MuggleMe · 14/11/2024 15:35

Offer tiny sips of cooled boiled water every few minutes. The headache is likely to be being dehydrated.

I'd let her sleep if that's what she wants to do.

Look up the BRAT diet for when she's feeling a bit better.
