Has anyone joined tattle ?

I actually never knew about it till yesterday a friend sent me a thread on the Conor McGregor trial. I wouldn't know a lot of the people other threads are about and by all accounts just from a quick google it's not the nicest site ? Anyway I tried to join as I was following the one I mentioned but it says you need a referral code which I found odd ? Has anyone managed to join or is there a way around needing a code or getting a code ? I'm on maternity leave and my baby is going through a sleep regression so just looking for something to pass the time while I sit with her when she naps .

Yes. It’s a horrible cesspit full of really unpleasant people.

I don't find it any worse than here tbh.

They don’t have the bandwidth (or whatever the word is) for new users so they’ve come up with this referral code system which makes it sound exclusive but really is intended to limit the number of users it has. Every now and then they open the site up to more registrations when they delete inactive accounts.

When she's asleep I have to stay with her and I go to bed at 8pm with her at the moment so yes I just need something when she's asleep so I'm not sitting in a dark room looking at the walls for 5 naps a day and 8pm bed time 😔

Current users are not allowed to give codes to anyone asking on MN.

You don't need to join, you can just read along.

So it literally is exclusive, then. 😅

Yes I joined Tattle, but a while back, to read the threads on Dr Jessica Taylor.

Jessica has a bit of public notoriety and was known on the feminist boards here as she fancied herself a GC feminist for a while.

When she started publicly bullying a vulnerable survivor who was complaining that Jessica had published her personal history of child sexual abuse without her permission, Tattle Life was invaluable for finding other people who were aware something dodgy was going on, and raising the alarm about the frequent and contradictory lies Jessica was telling people, including her staff at her company Victim Focus.

Influencers / people with a lot of followers on social media often have carefully curated public personas that are nothing like reality. Where that spills over into bullying, or where the consequences are harming people it's useful that there is a place with the courage to host that content in my opinion.

Yes, there's a load of bitchy nonsense on that site. But its also useful for exposing influencers who are bullies, or defrauding people or not who they say they are.

I use tattle and have done for a while, however I use the support/chat threads and don't go anywhere near the influencer or celebrity threads so don't really know what they are like. One thing though is that I have never seen any tattle users speak to others and pile on in a way that mumsnet users do. You can ask the most mundane question on mumsnet and are guaranteed to get vile responses from the users that just can't help themselves

leftfootinletfootout · 14/11/2024 08:26

It's no worse than here, in fact mn is probably nastier in many respects

This description sounds more like mumsnet AIBU than anything I've ever seen on tattle

Menopausalhatred · 14/11/2024 09:17

I don't understand why the 2 forums dislike each other so much, they serve completely different sections of the internet. OP you won't get a referral code from here, the admin teams have banned their members from recruiting mumsnetters after someone called Noddy something or other joined, and I don't blame them to be honest. Both sites are as batshit as each other frankly.

RosieLeaf · 14/11/2024 09:22

Yes. MN is far nastier.

People who sell their kids privacy for likes and freebies and content online are utter scum, IMO. I’m happy there’s a place calling them all out.

TianasBayou · 14/11/2024 09:45

I agree. It's a bit like MN in the good old days when posters were recognisable.

zingally · 14/11/2024 09:51

I've had an account for years. Rarely posted though, mostly just read through the threads on a couple of people I followed online.
Some of the threads are incredibly nasty though. There was one YouTuber I followed for a couple of years, bit of a clueless ditz, but utterly harmless and well-meaning, and actually quite funny. But then I discovered the Tattle thread about her, and WOW, she was HATED on there. And the more I found myself being influenced, and disliking this poor woman as well. Someone who literally had done nothing wrong other than be a bit silly and immature online. So I stopped reading.

I actually went on it last week for the first time in ages, after a Tiktoker I enjoy mentioned that she had a thread about her on Tattle, and I went to have a look.
