So we always get a new game every year:

We like:

Frustration 😂
Cluedo
Dobble
Knowledge is Power (PS)
Charades

Some of us like:

Labyrinth
Monopoly

No one likes:

Beetle
Game of Life

Any ideas for this year?

Recent successes here are:
Quirkle
Carcassonne

HouseFullOfChaos · 13/11/2024 20:49

Sushi Go
Uno

Both good card games

Based on what you like, you might enjoy Codenames. You have teams, a bunch of cards laid out with single words on and one person in the team gives one word clues that the others have to use to guess which words are their codenames, while avoiding guessing the assassin card or the other team's cards and losing the game.

Try Dice Forge :)

Arseynal · 13/11/2024 20:53

Wingspan,it’s so good, feels complicated to begin with but when you play through the tutorial it clicks really easily

RandomMess · 13/11/2024 21:03

Carcassonne & Code names as suggested above.

Ticket to ride too.

Latenightreader · 13/11/2024 21:06

How many of you are there? Blokus is fun. What about Articulate or Cranium?

driedapricots101 · 13/11/2024 21:07

Not a board game, but 'exploding kittens' has provided many hours of competitive fun in our family

BoredZelda · 13/11/2024 21:19

Outsmarted.

mysparkleismissing · 13/11/2024 21:21

Balderdash

Oh some of this I've never heard of thank you - maximum seven I guess? But usually four or five players and a couple floating round.
Not great with complicated rules due to some neurodivergence, has to be something everyone gets a turn - The Wheel was not a success due to the waiting time

I played poetry for Neanderthals and that was amusing! I like taboo and scategories. Oh and articulate!

House4DS · 13/11/2024 22:11

@Kaleidoscopic101 Catan (not cantan as I said earlier) is great for people who don't like waiting as everyone has the potential to pick up on every person's dice roll - no waiting for your turn to come around.

Phase2 · 13/11/2024 22:13

Oh some of these seem really good thank you. I'm going to google some of them.

Telestrations went down really well with my teens.

Also agree with poetry for neanderthals, and scattegories.

DataColour · 13/11/2024 22:29

Colt express
Wingspan
Camel up
Sagrado
Code names
Sushi go party
Dice hospital
Chameleon
Scythe

All hits with my 14/15 yr olds

Phase2 · 13/11/2024 23:07

I've never heard of some of these ! It's good to get recommendations though, it's a bit overwhelming in a shop or online.
I might get a few (three?) new ones for Christmas , we always end up playing games.
