Are Crimpits any good?

Looking for a Christmas present for my DS 16, thought this might be fun. Has anyone tried it? I don't have an air frier so that might be a factor.

I was going to say they're not that great in the toaster but really nice in the air fryer, which is probably not the review you were hoping for!!

BakedAl · 13/11/2024 16:34

Which one? I have the large wrap and the sandwich thin one. My boys love breakfast crimpits at the weekend. I just cook the wrap ones in a frying pan with frylight and cook the thin ones in the toaster with a toastabag. They have a bogof offer at the mo.

Twwodoorsaway · 13/11/2024 16:34

We have one and really like it but I’m afraid we also use the air fryer!

kitchenplans · 13/11/2024 16:48

I have a wrap one and a thins one, and I haven't really found either to work very well, in the toaster or the airfryer. Thumbs down from us.

Maybe we just don't have the knack?

Redglitter · 13/11/2024 16:50

I use the thins one in my toaster with no problem

RamblasTapas · 13/11/2024 16:50

I love mine, its the large wrap one.
I use an airfryer too!!!

Hatty65 · 13/11/2024 16:51

I bought one for my son last year and he's used it once. It didn't fry very well in a frying pan and we don't have an air fryer.

It's just one more bit of plastic tat in a cupboard.

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 13/11/2024 17:08

Perhaps get an airfryer too?

We bought one from dunelm for £24 in the summer. A 4litre one. They can be inexpensive.

arinya · 13/11/2024 17:09

Haven’t used ours in about a year! Novelty wore off quite quickly here.

Skepticgal · 13/11/2024 17:12

Thank you all, mixed reviews there. I won't be getting an air fryer so think I may skip the crimpit too.

No. Bought a few following the Christmas thread on here are they were crap. No-one used them more than once

Learning. Dont be a sheep- dont buy loads of crap just because it is cheap!

rosalynd34 · 13/11/2024 17:15

I think the crimpit is good, I just think if you want to use any softer fillings it might be worth getting toaster bags too.

As others have said, you can also use the frying pan

Roundaboot · 13/11/2024 17:21

I got the wrap one for DS for Christmas last year and after an initial flurry of excitement, it's now languishing in a cupboard. We found that it doesn't seal the wrap particularly well and it's just less faff just to put fillings in a wrap, fold in half and do in a dry frying pan as we always used to.

ScrambledSmegs · 13/11/2024 17:21

Can't you buy sandwich toasters any more? I used to have a great one, it was black and white like a cow.

We make toasties in a non-stick frying pan now. Same with quesadillas. It works really well but sadly not cute like that little breville.

DinnaeFashYerself · 13/11/2024 17:22

I found the novelty wore off quickly

Cheerfulcharlie · 13/11/2024 17:23

We used ours a couple of times but not worth the faff and didn't really seal properly.

rainbowunicorn · 13/11/2024 17:47

Don't waste your money. They are crap.

You can still buy them. Cheese toasties, yummy

Maybe buy her a waffle maker?

We have a waffle maker and use it a lot. We do toasties in the frying pan too. Just thought the crimpit might be fun but going to give it a miss.

Buy your DS an air fryer and a crimpit. Just a cheap one in Aldi, mine cost £29 and the teen loves it

downwindofyou · 13/11/2024 18:15

Can people please tell me how to cook in the air fryer? Times and temperature please

ForgettingMeNot · 13/11/2024 18:18

Don't know about crimpets but I love my morphy richards microwave toasted sandwich maker. Works so well and even better so easy to clean

JetskiSkyJumper · 13/11/2024 18:45

Everyone on here was buying them last year.
