Online shared calendars

Looking for some suggestions as to how to better organise childcare/work/personal calendars. I'm recently divorced and ex and I both have quite high pressure jobs with a lot of events and travel. We have a timetable of when DD is going to be with each of us. Whenever I'm asked to do something after work/go away for work I have to consult the childcare schedule, speak to ex about making any swaps if necessary, then we have to update the timetable... it's all a bit complicated.

Are there any decent online calendars that you can share, and e.g. put in any work trips so that the shared care can be planned around that and all in the same calendar?

I have a shared calendar on Google calendar with my other half. Each person is colour coded so we know who has the event.

Just set up a joint iPhone calendar, then you can send each other invites and add events to the calendar.

Google calendar, I use it for work, for home, for shared calendars

If you're using iPhones, you can create a shared calendar, which integrates with everything, i.e. you can use Siri to enter appointments etc.

It can also be accessed via a web browser if needed.

Shout if you need help.

How do you create this shared calendar in iPhone? That sounds ideal but currently I only have my events in my calendar

If you click on ‘calendars’ you can add as many as you want, then click on them to share them.

We have shared, so we can both see/add to:

-Individual ones
-kids
-dogs
-birthdays
-whole family events

Each calendar is a different colour, which helps when you see them all at once.

Follow the steps below to add and share a new calendar on an iOS device

  1. open the calendar application.
  2. At the bottom select "calendar"
  3. Select "Add Calendar"
  4. Select "Add Calendar" (from the drop up list)
  5. Give it a name EG " Family"
  6. in the shared with field, Click "Add Person"
  7. Add person
  8. Click done

Google calendar. As well as both parties being able to add things in, you can also sync it with others such as your work calendar so you only have to input the info once but it shows up. Everything is colour coded so it’s really easy to see it at a glance who has put what in. Our family life wouldn’t run without it.
